Frequently Asked Questions

What is no objection letter?

Well No Objection Letter is effectively a permission form the government of Nepal to study abroad. Government legislation will require that all Nepali students wishing to study abroad acquire permission from the Ministry of Education in the form an official “no-objection-letter”. The new ordinance states that the government “will issue a no-objection-letter if it sees grounds to provide it after a thorough investigation.”  This no objection letter is required for submitting the visa application forms in various embassies and more importantly it is to be shown to the Nepalese Immigration Service while leaving Nepal to study aboard.

Do I have to attend an interview to issue student visa to study in any country?

To issue student visa to the students different Embassies and Consulates have different mechanism. So whether or not you have to attend an interview depends on the embassies and consulates. However, in if there is an embassy more importantly visa section of the country in which you want to study then in all most all cases you will have to attend an interview. For example, while applying visa to USA, Denmark, Norway etc interview is a must. Although there is British Embassy in Nepal, embassy doesn't require students to be present in the interview. Australia has its embassy here in Kathmandu but embassy doesn't have the visa section. If there is no embassy and consulate (or if there is only consulate) more importantly the visa section of the country you wish to study then you will be in most cases not required to attend an interview. For example in most cases while applying Australia you will not be required to attend an interview. However in rare cases you might have to attend interview in Australian High Commission.

Is test (TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, GRE, GMAT, ACT) results absolute essential for studying abroad?

Mostly test (TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, GRE, GMAT, ACT) results are required by the colleges or Universities for checking the level of knowledge of English language and others if applicable before they can admit the students. Many embassies don't have the absolute requirement to submit test results. For example, US embassy, Danish Embassy etc. don't require IELTS or TOEFL to issue student visa. However for countries like Australia, Ireland etc embassy does require IELTS or TOEFL for issuing student visa.
No embassy requires SAT, GRE, GMAT or ACT for issuing student visa. However if you have them it will be better to submit it to the embassy or consulate along with your visa application form.

Which test I take TOEFL or IELTS?

It depends on the country and college which you are applying to. However, there is a myth in Nepal that students going to USA should take TOEFL and those going Australia or UK should take IELTS. It's not exactly like that. Australian High Commission in New Delhi requires IELTS to issue student visa. However, to get admitted in USA or UK, TOEFL would be more than enough if you have the mandatory score. In USA, maximum colleges need TOEFL but IELTS is gaining popularity among the US universities and Colleges now. So, which test to take (TOEFL or IELTS) or not to take at all depends on your choice of college/university and the country you are applying.

What are the basic things that I should consider for studying abroad?

In fact many. While studying abroad you are placed in a completely new environment and new education system. So, you should first and foremost consider whether you can acclimatize in that environment.

Studying abroad can be expensive so you should consider whether you can afford the college/university or the country.
Accreditations of the colleges and universities

Similarly there are many things required and we firmly believe we will prepare students for all the aspects of study abroad.

Which Educational Consultancy should I use or should I not use at all for study abroad?

It depends on your choice. Some consultancies work only for US. Some are specialized in Europe. Further some consultancies work only with specialized courses such as MBBS.
We would like to suggest the students that they should visit each every consultancy first and make their decision. So we have our slogan "Please visit us once and you will feel the difference".

We suggest the students should at least get counseling only from ECAN (www.ecan.org.np) members. For the list of ECAN members you can visit http://www.ecan.org.np/listofmembers.php). From the advertisements published in various Newspapers you can know whether it is a member of ECAN by searching for ECAN logo.
